Gedeb is one of the districts in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia, named after its major town, Gedeb. Part of the Gedeo Zone, Gedeb is bordered on the east and south by the Oromia Region, on the west by Kochere, on the northwest by Yirgachefe, and on the north by Bule.

Between the driest and wettest months, the difference in precipitation is 231 mm. The variation in annual temperature is around 2.3 °C. Wet processing was introduced into Ethiopia in the 1970s, and Yirgacheffewas the location of the very first wet processing mill. The washing station receives cherries from 400-600farmers, each farmer owning no more than 1hectare of land. Such coffees do not use chemical fertiliser and are hence 100% organic.
