Yirgacheffe is found within the state of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region (SNNPR) of Ethiopia, and it is located at the central south area of the country, and it is divided into six woredas or districts and is home to the most elusive and complex profiles Ethiopia has to offer.

In Kochere district, the coffee is grown in fertile, well-drained and red-brown soil on the slopes of a hillside by small-holders whom each own 0,25 to 2 hectares of land. Trees, grown at high altitudes ranging from 2160 - 2190 MASL are unaltered heirloom varietals from the region.

The ripest cherries are picked and freshly sorted before pulping, and over-ripe and under-ripe beans are handpicked and separated before processing at Worka Washing Station.
