Worka, EthiopiaRed Rabbit Coffee Co.
Worka's Cooperatives is part of Gedeb Woreda and it is composed of approximately 411 smallholders' producers, most of whom grow their coffee on the slopes of a mountain called Rudu. Here, coffee trees are grown by small-holders whom each own 0,25 to 2 hectares of land and shaded by a diverse range of fruit trees. In addition, it is a common practice for coffee growers to make homemade organic fertilizers to feed their plots, thus benefiting the local ecosystem and keeping the land healthy and balance.
Washing process: freshly harvested cherries are pulped the same day they are picked. Washed coffee is dried for up to 10 days. This depends on the altitude and weather conditions.
