Ethiopia Sagara, Espresso

Sagara is a washing station in Bensa, Sidama, named after the nearby kebele. The name means "temporary house" or "booth", rooted in the area's cultural traditions.

The coffee comes from 171 smallholder farmers across the surrounding villages. High elevation, plenty of sun and lush vegetation make this ideal country for distinctive Ethiopian coffee.

The station runs 134 drying beds and 13 washing tanks. Washed lots like this one ferment for around 72 hours, get a thorough wash, then dry on raised African beds for 11 to 12 days. The result is a clean, bright cup.

Station owner: Asefa Dukamo Korma.
